How we can care for dogs in shelters?

You can help dogs in many ways. For example, by paying a symbolic amount for various types of activities organized in the shelter. And if you are under 18, you can organize a desk subscription at your school and buy food for a dog with the collected money. Remember that every little gesture counts in a shelter.

You can also become a volunteer in a shelter. It is not true on the whole that shelters do not care for dogs. Let’s take the example of Paluch Shelter. There are currently about 400 dogs in that shelter and much fewer volunteers, so they can not give the dogs enough time and attention The dogs normally go for a walk 3 times a day. In the shelter they have 1 walk a day and play on the paddock. All-day long they wait behind the bars for that one walk – the only time when they can have contact with people, which is very important to them.

I also want to write about „deliberate adoption”. We should remember that when taking a dog under our roof, we need to take into account not only those nice duties such as stroking the dog, going for a quiet walk when the weather is nice. Having a dog includes many obligations, such as a walk when it rains, playing when we are tired. When adopting a dog, you must also bear in mind the high costs. Your dog can get ill, so you may need money for a vet appointment or rehabilitation. You also need to remember about food and toys. So you need money and time.
